i started freelancing, which i am currently working to expand my opportunities on. the world of freelance writing is quite an interesting one, as i have recently discovered. i am currently considering taking a gender-neutral (or possibly even male) pseudonym for this purpose. it seems, oh so surprisingly, that the world is more willing to take seriously the words of an anonymous male than a self-identified female. /end rant
this summer has been a good one! (and not only because i practically forced it to be) i went to comicon in philly, where i met some of my beloved star trek heroes, i had a nice vacation in ocean city and reconnected with some old friends, i went on a camping/hiking trip to a beautiful spot in the Appalachians, and am about to take a road trip to see a great band in an interesting place i have never been to before with someone wonderful. even though the summer started on a sour note, it has been simply fantastic so far and i am even excited for fall. it's time to start knitting again!
i got a new lens and a tripod and have been experimenting with long exposures and star photography, which is fun.
there have been lots of great kitchen experiments recently which are improving with each permutation. and now that i am free to include various exotic cheeses in my repertoire, it will only get better! i have been making lots of curries and steaks and whatnots. things with mushrooms and risotto. and now i am hungry.
the holiday season is creeping right around the corner and i could not be more excited. i can't wait for thankmas and quadsgiving! oh the foods will be marvelous. i hope we get a deep freezer before then.
